Alloys Poured

Our wide range of ferrous and special alloys is what differentiates Ashland Foundry and Machine Works from other East Coast foundries. Because we melt in 7 coreless induction furnaces ranging in size from 500 lbs. to 7,500 lbs, We can pour almost any kind of carbon steel, low-alloy or high-alloy steel, heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and nickel- or copper-based alloys. We also produce a variety of abrasion resistant grades including our own highly acclaimed proprietary materials to meet virtually any demand and stand up to any environment.

  • DIACRO™ is a high-chromium iron alloy we recommend for being a combination of abrasion resistant and corrosion resistant.
  • DIACRO XL™ is a high-chromium, low-carbon iron specifically engineered for corrosion resistance when exposed to acid.

Plus, as a major supplier of corrosion resistant and heat resistant stainless steel, we have equipped our foundry with an AOD vessel. We can melt and transfer as much as 8,000 lbs. of metal to our AOD (Argon-Oxygen Decarburization) vessel for refining steels. Doing so positions this large stainless foundry to produced cleaner alloys like low carbon stainless steel, Inconel and Hastelloy with improved mechanical properties. Refining the melt in our AOD vessel allows AFMW to economically and efficiently produce stainless, acid and heat resistant steel grades. No other process offers similar properties or efficiencies.

If your large stainless foundry is not using an AOD vessel, to purify their melt with minimal waste of alloying elements, come to Ashland Foundry.

Every heat poured is tested and monitored throughout the process, ensuring it meets rigorous ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and/or international standards. Having catered to pump OEMs since the 1880s, our workers have years of experience working with these corrosion resistant and heat resistant alloys. Most have accumulated more than 20 years of knowledge about alloy specifications and properties.

That’s how Ashland Foundry & Machine Works make products that meet or exceed expectations.

We are best known for our high-alloy steel, heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and nickel or copper-based alloys.
